Details: Join an exciting Seattle area company that produces innovative energy saving products that reduce the amount of electricity needed for commercial and residential end users.
The products are an important component of the SmartGrid, that saves electricity by increasing the efficiency of the delivery systems.
The company is looking for an experienced ME with a background in electrical enclosures, specifically power enclosures, both exterior and interior.
Responsibilities:
- Design of power module enclosures. Strong, reliable, cost effective enclosures for power equipment, both interior and exterior.
- Familiarity of design validation testing and creating enclosures capable of passing IP55 and EMI standards.
- Complete understanding of Pro E and/or SolidWorks CAD programs.
- Experience in designing to optimize thermal transfer out of the enclosure. Experience in thermal management.
- Work closely with other departments (manufacturing, service and marketing) to interpret requirements and implement design solutions.
- Work with outside vendors to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Develop, document and implement complete designs including assembly, testing and troubleshooting processes.
- Resolve failures through root cause analysis including performing tolerance analysis for all system modules including designs outside your discipline.
- Work with other designers in cross functional project teams to develop product from concept to production.
- Work "hands on" in a lab environment assembling, modifying and testing prototypes.
- Assist in selecting and working with suppliers.
Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years related professional experience in the design of Electrical/Electronic Enclosures.
- Agency UL/CSA/CE experience including documentation preparation.
- Proven mastery of engineering design principles and techniques.
- Complete understanding and mastery of SolidWorks and/or ProE.
- Familiarity with ISO, IPC and quality improvement processes.
- Reliability studies on product and components to assure product quality.
